Church History
The ACME M.B. CHURCH is a non-for profit charitable religious organization, organized in 1951 in the living room of the late, Pastor S.L. Sutton. We have grown over the years and moved from various location to accommodate the growth; 909 W. 59ths, 8758 S. Peoria St. We are currently located at 8747 S. Paulina St. After the death of Rev. S.L. Sutton, his son, Dr. Bernard Sutton returned from Manteca, CA to continue the church ministry.
Under Pastor, Dr. Bernard Sutton’s, leadership the ministry has grown to over 1000 members.
Our Pastor’s leadership and “heart of the community” along with our music ministry has garnered worldwide attention to our church and surrounding community. Pastor Sutton was named one of the top Pastors in the Nation by the Rhythm of Gospel Organization. Under the directorship of Janet Sutton, The Acme M.B. Church Choir (Janet Sutton & the Voices of Acme) was hailed as Best Church Choir in America in Verizon Wireless’ “How Sweet the Sound” first Church Choir national competition. As a result we have been nominated for a Stellar Award and Rhythm of Gospel Award. Due to these humbly received accolades, the church attracts visitors weekly from all over the city, country, Japan, Switzerland, Russia, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Germany Netherlands and more.
